Raising Student Voice and Participation In 2008, MASC was proud to introduce NASC's Raising Student Voice and Participation (RSVP) Program to Massachusetts. Financing was provided by Learn & Serve America. MASC is one of the forty state student council organizations participating in RSVP nationwide. This three-step program works to provide a forum for the many voices in schools, increase student involvement by working on issues that really matter to students, involve students in the school decision-making process, make changes in our schools and communities, and increase student interest in civic issues. RSVP State Trainings In order to implement RSVP in their school, schools must attend an RSVP State Training. These day-long workshops are led by RSVP State Trainers and certify schools in Raising Student Voice and Participation. Schools are encouraged to bring teams of five their training session composed of three students, an advisor, and an administrator. These teams discuss governance in their high school, are given a full overview of RSVP, participate in simulated RSVP Summits, learn facilitation skills, and draft an RSVP implementation strategy for their school. Lunch is provided to all attendees. In 2008, MASC held two State Trainings at the MSSAA Building in Franklin. During the 2009-2010 year MASC hopes to continue to train schools in the program. The 2009 MASC RSVP State Training was to be held on Thursday October 22nd, however was cancelled due to lack of participation. Please e-mail your State Trainers here with any questions. More information on RSVP can also be found on NASC's RSVP Page. Trained Schools MASC is proud to have trained 21 schools in RSVP. Their names can be seen below.
