A Word From the President

Ghandi once said "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Here in CDMASC, we take those wise words to heart. Our mission is simple, to improve ourselves as leaders, improve our councils, improve our region and  state, all while improving the world. Throughout the year CDMASC comes together to compete, bond, and share ideas by participating in a multitude of events. Through this network we are able to strengthen our councils and by extension our region. Whether we are honing our Laser Tag skills, raising our score in bowling, or dominating the court in dodgeball, CDMASC is always working towards the common goal of improving our schools and community. The ideas we share at these events and the friends we make then enable us to bring new ideas to our own schools, strengthen our bonds as a region and improve our community.

Annual Conferences

Each year there are two conferences. The first conference takes place in the Fall, while the other takes place in the Spring. Traditionally the Fall Conference will have a Key Note Speaker, followed by several student-run workshops, and then dinner/activities. The Spring Conference is generally the same, but the Key Note Speaker is usually replaced with election speeches for the following year.  There will be more detail on the Conference as it comes closer.  Both Conference delegates will be working closely with the other executive board members to further communiation in the planning process.
  •  The 2010 Fall Conference will be held at Grafton High School. More details will be posted as they become available. Remember CDMASC: Get excited!

Annual Events

Bowling Night: This night has become an annual event for CDMASC. All councils are invited to AMF for some 'Xtreme' Bowling. About 10 lanes are reserved for CDMASC and everyone pays $25.00 to attend. The fee covers the bowling and concessions. The 'Xtreme' Bowling is described by AMF, "At selected times, your AMF center cranks up the music, turns down the lights and plunges you into the strangely addictive sensory overload we call Xtreme Bowling". There is usually a turnout of anywhere from 60 to 100 people. It a great social night for CDMASC and those who attend always leave excited about the next CDMASC event.

Ice Cream Social: The Ice Cream Social is essentially a 'Meet the Candidates' night. A school is chosen to host the event and councils that are interested in meeting the candidates for the new executive board on a social level attend. It is not a campaign night but is a time for people to get to know the candidates better. This year, a roundtable format was introduced. Each candidate paired up with an executive board member to host a topic for a table.

New Events

Swing Night: This event took place on Friday, June 12th at Wachusett Regional High School as a night of swing dancing. The registration was from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, followed by an hour of basic teaching from instructors from 5:00pm - 6:00 pm. After the hour of teaching, there were two hours of open dance for everyone. There was no prior experience or a partner needed. Food and refreshments were covered by the entrance fee of $5.00. All proceeds went to the local charity Abby's House, a shelter for battered women and children. There was approximately 60 people who attended. Although many more signed up, those who attended gave very positive feedback. The event will be annual and possibly bi-annual depending on other events that may take hold throughout the year.

Laser Tag: This was a very successful event that was put on by the 2009-2010 CDMASC Executive Board. The event was very successful and will be planned for the 2010-2011 year as time goes on.

Dodgeball Tournament: This past year a Dodgeball Tournament took place at Tantasqua Regional High School. This event gives everyone a chance to bond, and have at great time! The date of this event will be announced when the date is chosen by the CDMASC Executive Board.
